Giorgio Wolfensberger was born 1945 in Zurich and grew up in Winterthur. He died in 2016 in his geographic and political adopted home of Umbria. Not only was he an industrial photographer, filmmaker and author, he was also an extraordinary collector. He seems to have attracted the peculiarities of everyday life, the deviations from the rule, the play of objects, the humorous and the grotesque in the course of the world, as if his eyes, his nose, his fingers were probes, magnetic with material reality were connected. He always discovered the special in the banal, the own in general, the rich in the poor, the strange in the rule.

In this book, for the first time, his free and artistic photographs gather for a panopticon, a colourful cabaret of things. Starting with the black-and-white documentary photographs in his first years in Italy, a rich, humorous, colourful photo povera unfolds – a charming, thoughtful dance of "poor", simple things.– Urs Stahel.
