Anais Lopez - In The Beginning No Bird Sang

In the Beginning no Bird Sang is a special project conceived by artist Anais Lopez, taking the form of photo, video and sound installation. Anais Lopez followed Jean, a blind man, for one and a half years as he introduced her to a part of Amsterdam, IJburg, in which he knew intimately, walking around the island for hours at a time as he recalled the names and stories behind each bird which sang. In this publication (limited to 500 copies) together with Jean, Lopez developes an sensory portrait of IJburg, documenting its landscape, wildlife, and Jean himself.
