When photographer Daniel Josefsohn suffered a stroke in November 2012, ZEITmagazin invited him to document his struggle in a yearlong column titled 'Am Leben, Alive: a celebration of survival buoyed by humor, devotion, and an unconditional love of life'. The book presents the column in German and English. His photographs are accompanied by diary-like notes that blend episodes from his current diminished existence with recollections of his past life.It is rounded out by a preface by Christoph Amend, editor-in-chief of ZEITmagazin, and an interview by the writer and cultural theorist Holm Friebe.
